53. Shukkei-en Garden, Hiroshima

The Shukkei-en garden is a small, but magical garden hidden in central Hiroshima. The name means "shrunken view" and the garden aims to recreate grand vistas in miniature, which it does very well. It dates from 1620, although it was badly damaged in the bombing and, of course, has been restored since.
