These photos were taken during our visit to Navini Island Resort in Fiji during July, 2019. This came some two years after our previous trip - which was to Uepi in the Solomon Islands. We had planned to return to Uepi in 2017 but health problems forced the cancellation of that trip, and also another trip planned for Fiji in 2018. So this trip was something of a tentative step back into the "real world" to see if we could actually still handle travelling. From all points of view, it was a real success. Navini is a small but beautiful coral island with a single resort consisting of ten "bures" (huts) as well as dining and administration facilities and staff quarters. So it caters for approximately 20 visitors at any one time. The visitors are looked after by approximately 24 friendly staff. The island is surrounded by a sandy beach and, in turn, by a coral reef. A stay on Navini can be as peaceful or as energetic as you like, ranging from lying on sunbeds on the beach, to snorkelling, or to beach volleyball for those who are that way inclined. There is an outing scheduled daily to another island in the Mamanuca group, or to a school on another island, or to a different coral reef to bring more variety to our snorkelling, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on Navini, and the chance to venture out into the real world once again. |
