9. Soft coral at Opal Reef

"Soft corals" differ from the "hard" or "stony" corals in that the coral polyps do not produce the calcium carbonate skeletons that most people identify as "coral". Most soft corals thrive in nutrient rich waters with less intense light and thus play an important part in the total reef development.
