Cherry Blossom Time in Japan - 2015

45. The Todai-ji Great Hall at Nara

About an hour by train from Kyoto, Nara was the capital of Japan from 710 to 784 A.D. Today it remains a relatively small town with a large area of parks and gardens, including the Todai-ji complex. The Great Hall at Todai-ji is reputedly the largest wooden building in the world, and it houses the Nara Daibutsu, which is the largest Buddha statue in Japan.
