East African Safari, 2009

100. Serval, Serengeti

Most people will not have heard of the serval - a small, spotted, carnivorous cat of East Africa. It hunts rodents, lizards, snakes and birds, and is exceptionally beautiful in its camouflage colouring. It is rarely seen, but we were lucky enough to notice one before we moved off from watching our elephants.
