45. Wildebeest, Ngorongoro National Park

Ngorongoro National Park is about 264 sq. Km., and it occupies the crater left by the explosion of an ancient volcano. As we descend into the crater we encounter herds of wildebeest grazing on the dry grass. Park rangers have burnt off some of the dry grass to ensure lush growth when rains arrive, and also to kill ticks.
