93. The Fig Tree Hospital
| During the siege of Tobruk there were few, if any, safe havens for the treating of the wounded. The Australian army set up a field hospital in a network of caves, with the entrance beside this fig tree in an open field. Not far away is a shattered marble plaque which records the history of the "Fig Tree Hospital". |
