| Our final destination in Libya is Tobruk. Les' late uncle was one of the "Rats of Tobruk" who, in 1941, became the first troops to halt the advance of German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel and his previously unstoppable Afrika Corps. They then marked their place in history by continuing to block Rommel's advance through the terrible siege of Tobruk which lasted for eight months. |
