17. The Solid Gold Buddha
| In Wat Traimit, a small temple in Bangkok, is the "Solid Gold Buddha". It was cast in the 13th century and weighs over 5 tons. At some time it was coated in plaster to hide it from invading Burmese forces, and it was only in 1931, when some of the plaster cracked, that it was rediscovered. |
