Machu Picchu from the Gateway of the Sun

This view of Machu Picchu is from Inti Punku, the "Gateway of the Sun". Inti Punku is an Inca momunent marking the end of the Inca Trail along the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu. The city was laid out with separate areas for royalty and upper classes, administrators, and working classes. It was surrounded by terraces for food production and included amazing systems for water reticulation, which continue to operate centuries later.
